Sweets are symbol of good gesture in India.             Their presence on the menu makes us feel satisfied after a meal.Whether it's a regular dal-roti sabji or a lavish eight course feast, the sweet always have to wait till the end. 

 

Importance of sweets                                            Including sweet in food balances your daily balanced diet and having a balanced diet ensures healthy living and you need your sugary food for energy.    

 Health benefits of eating sweets in our body.                                                                          1. Enhances the mood immediately- whenever someone consumes any sweets,it activates dopamine hormone which is responsible for enhancing the mood. But you have to care about the amount of sweet you are consuming as a higher amount can also cause a problem.

2. Helps to save energy later- The sugars you consume from the sweets also get stored in the body for later use. The human body does not give all the energy in one go and uses it in small intervals and amounts. This procedure is known as glycogenesis, and it permits the body to function for a certain period without consuming food for some time. However, if the sweet consumption exceeds the amount of glucose needed to be stored within the body, it will become harmful for the health. The saved glucose will get converted into bad cholesterol due to eating too many sweets.      

3. Naturally sweetened products are more Beneficial- if you are wondering, whether sweets are good for your health, this segment will help you get your answer. Naturally, the sweetened product can assist you in enhancing your thinking capabilities. Many sweets include natural flavors with antioxidants that improve the cognitive ability of a person.

4. Sweets are Full of Nutrients- There is a specific reason for which our body craves some delicious sweets. People on a low carbohydrate diet often ignore the fact that glucose is also a significant nutrient of the human body. The correct number of sweets can help to fuel your mind and body. Some sweets also contain all the necessary fibers, antioxidants, and vitamins for the diet.   

5. Some sweets incorporate natural fruit flavor- Fruit is one of the most vital parts of the daily nutrient intake that will keep you strong, healthy, and immune to some specific diseases. Thus if you intake any sweet that contains natural fruit like mango peda, it will serve both the sweet and health purpose. Consumption of fruit-flavored mithai is one of the biggest advantages of eating sweets.     

6. Sweets give protection against strokes-A few bites of sweets every day will decrease the threat of brain stroke. According to a study of Neurology, people aged between 45 to 78 years of age, when they consume a little bit of sweet every day, reduce the risk of almost 17% chances of brain stroke.

7.Give you a balanced diet- If you are having double thought about whether sweets are good for health, you will get delighted to know they are an integral part of a well-balanced diet as well. Eating healthy does not mean that you have to consume green vegetables all day long. Sweets can also assist you in receiving the required nutrients. Since most sweets are composed of milk or cottage cheese, they are also full of calcium and protein. 

If you are on a diet, as there are numerous ways through which you can enjoy the benefits of eating sweets without gaining any additional pounds or destroying your body shape. Consume some sweets for treats in moderation during the festival, occasions, or once every week to energize your mood and body. But remember, despite all the advantages, you also need to keep in check your sweet consumption; otherwise, it might harm you as well.

If you eat too much sweets
1.It can cause weight gain-Rates of obesity are rising worldwide and added sugar, especially from sugar-sweetened beverages, is thought to be one of the main culprits.

2.May increase your risk of heart disease-Consuming too much added sugar increases heart disease risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure and inflammation. High-sugar diets have been linked to an increased risk of dying from heart disease.

3.Increase your risk of type 2 diabetes-A high sugar diet may lead to obesity and insulin resistance both of which are risk factors for type 2 diabetes.

4.May increase your risk of cancer- Too much sugar can lead to Obesity insulin resistance and inflammation all of which are risk of factors for cancer.

5.May increase your risk of depression-A diet rich in added sugar and processed foods may increase depression risk in both men and women.

6.Other health risks-Aside from the risks listed above, sugar can harm your body in countless other ways.
Research shows that too much added sugar can:
•Increase kidney disease risk: Having consistently high blood sugar levels can cause damage to the delicate blood vessels in your kidneys. This can lead to an increased risk of kidney disease .
•Negatively impact dental health: Eating too much sugar can cause cavities. Bacteria in your mouth feed on sugar and release acid byproducts, which cause tooth demineralization .
•Increase the risk of developing gout: Gout is an inflammatory condition characterized by pain in the joints. Added sugars raise uric acid levels in the blood, increasing the risk of developing or worsening gout .
•Accelerate cognitive decline: High-sugar diets can lead to impaired memory and have been linked to an increased risk of dementia 
Research on the impact of added sugar on health is ongoing, and new discoveries are constantly being made.
So, avoid eating too much sweets.


 Importance of sweets in Indian culture.     Since all the things that go into making sweets are pure.thus, they are considered safe for offering to Gods in temples.                 

 The ritual has come down the ages from the ancient times of considering mithai to be pure and offering it to others before self consumption by the slogan "mu mitha kijiye".Indian sweets find a place in everything auspicious.                                        By offering sweets ,Indians express gratitude , respect and acknowledge the presence of others in their life. It is a method of conveying to others that they 'matter'.   

  What is a safe amount of sugar to eat per day?
Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer to this question. Some people can eat a lot of sugar without harm, while others should avoid it as much as possible.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the maximum amount of added sugars you should eat in a day are -

Men: 150 calories per day (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons)
Women: 100 calories per day (25 grams or 6 teaspoons)

So, now I'll discuss about famous sweets of different states in India.
1.Andhra Pradesh – Qubani ka Meetha
MAde of apricots, this sweet delicacy is synonymous with Andhra. Other amazing treats from the state include Tirupati Ladoo, Pootharekulu,Ariselu and Karijalu.



2.Assam – Narikol’or Ladoo
Delicious coconut rolled into balls make this delicious sweet.



3. Bihar – Khaja
Dough layered and soaked in sugar syrup. Yummy!



4. Goa – Bebinca
Traditional Goan pudding is made with 16 layers.



5. Gujarat – Basundi
Sweetened dense milk, flavored with saffron and dry-fruits. And A am Ras ! And Shrikhand ! And Gud Papdi .



6.West Bengal – Rosogulla
Spongy, sweetness is goodness. Among countless others like Sitabhog and Mihidana.


7. Uttar Pradesh – Balushahi
Deep fried goodness soaked in sugar syrup. Petha, Thuggu ke ladoo, malaiyyo, Pan ki gillori.



8. Karnataka – Mysore Pak
Rich sweet dish prepared with butter and gram flour. Belgaum kunda, Gokak Karadantu are others.



9. Kerala – Ilayappam
 Steamed in banana leaves, this dessert is light yet delicious. Kozhikodan halwa, Unniyaappams.



10.Madhya Pradesh – Mawa Bati
Khoya Jalebi, Garadu (Yam) can not be missed at all .


11. Maharashtra – Modak
Who does not know about the delicious favorites of Lord Ganesha? Can not miss Pooran Poli, Kataachi Amti and Santra Barfi.


12.Odisha- Chenna poda
Its a cheese desert.kind of baked cheese.Chhena jhilli is another famous dish.


13. Tamil Nadu – Pongal
Rice cooked with jaggery is a simple, yet exotic dish. Tirunulveli Halwa is another speciality.


14. Rajasthan – Ghevar

The desert state has a lot to offer in the field of desserts. Mawa Misri and Milk Cake are amazingly delicious too.



15. Manipur – Chakhao Kheer
Black rice cooked in milk makes this delicious dish. Madhurjan Thongba is another delicacy.



16. Punjab – Pinni
Winters speciality. Loose form is called Panjiri which is just as delicious.



17. Haryana – Gond ke ladoo                                   Sweet balls made with gum,flour,nuts, Jaggery and ghee 


18. Uttarakhand – Bal Mithai

Indigenous to the state, it is a must try. Singhori is also quite popular.



19. Sikkim – Sael Roti.                                                 Ring shaped sweet rice bread .     



20.Himachal Pradesh – Babroo                                        Made with dough and sugar, the dish is ideal for the mountain town.



21. Jammu & Kashmir – Shufta
Loaded with dry-fruits, the Kashmiri dessert is delicious and hearty.


22. Jharkhand – Anarsa
Sesame seeds are the biggest component of the sweet. Cashew nuts add extra flavor.



23. Nagaland – Koat Pitha
Stuffed with goodness, this dessert is prepared by deep-frying rolls of dough.



24. Mizoram - Chhangban Leh Kurtai
Bread and chhang make this exotic dessert.



25. Arunachal Pradesh – Khapse
This Tibetan biscuit is a stoprehouse of energy more delicious than any nutrition bar.



26. Meghalaya – Pukhlein
Rice and jaggery sweet prepared like a breakfast bread. It is delicious and filling.



27.Chattisgarh- khurma
Prepared with milk and vermicillies.



28.Tripura- Awan BangwiExclusively
Cone shaped with sticky rice,cashews,raisins,almonds and oodles of ghee .
